Spanish giants Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by Europa League Champions Sevilla in Sunday’s La Liga game at the Camp Nou.

Both teams shared the spoils as Barcelona dropped their first points of the 2020/21 La Liga season.

Luuk de Jong put the away side ahead in the eight-minute but the lead was cut short by the Blaugrana’s prodigal son, Philippe Coutinho two minutes after.

Speaking after the match, Sevilla’s Joan Jordan said, “We came to play a big game and came to win. It feels a bit bittersweet.

“We had chances to win it. In the final third we could have been more clinical. It was a huge effort from all of us. We have an excellent squad and a very exciting year ahead of us.”

Philippe Coutinho also had this to say after the game: “It was a difficult game. They packed the midfield and we couldn’t breakthrough. I want to dedicate my goal to my pregnant wife.”

Meanwhile, champions Real Madrid secured a 2-0 win at Levante to go top of the La Liga table continuing their perfect start to the season.

Vinícius Júnior (16) and Karim Benzema (90+5) gave the away team the all-important three points.
