Barcelona face Real Madrid in Supercopa final

Published

Barcelona and Real Madrid are poised for a thrilling Spanish Super Cup final, a rematch from last year’s showdown that saw Barcelona emerge victorious with a 3-1 win.

The Catalan club earned their spot in the final by securing a 2-0 victory over competition debutants Osasuna, setting the stage for a potential 15th Super Cup crown, a record they aim to extend.

Real Madrid’s journey to the final was laden with drama, requiring a late Dani Carvajal equalizer against Atletico to force extra time, ultimately sealing the victory with two additional period goals.

The entirety of this year’s Super Cup is being played in Saudi Arabia, providing a unique setting for this iconic Clasico clash.

As the teams gear up for the final, Barcelona faces the potential absence of Raphinha due to injury.

On a positive note, Pedri returns after a nearly month-long absence, and the emergence of youngster Lamine Yamal adds depth following an impressive display in the 2-0 victory over Osasuna.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, enters the final without significant injury concerns. The spotlight is on the goalkeeping position, where Kepa Arrizabalaga faces competition from Andriy Lunin.
