Spanish football club Barcelona is reportedly interested in securing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan during the January transfer window.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Friday that the Catalan club has already initiated contact with Rashford’s representatives to express their interest.
The 27-year-old English forward has been linked to several clubs, including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Arsenal, and West Ham, in recent weeks. Rashford hinted at his desire to leave Manchester United in a recent interview, stating he is ready for a “new challenge” this winter.
His reduced role under Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly fueled his decision to explore other opportunities.
One of the biggest obstacles to Rashford’s potential move is his high wages. The England international reportedly earns over €350,000 per week, which could pose a financial challenge for any club looking to secure his services.
Despite this, Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, is said to be determined to strengthen the team managed by Hansi Flick during the January transfer window. Rashford is seen as a key player who could enhance Barcelona’s attacking options.
Barcelona is not the only club interested in Rashford, as several European heavyweights are also monitoring his situation. However, the Catalan club’s reputation and ambitions could make them a strong contender for the forward’s signature.
