The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a trigger-happy cop, who shot a bus passenger along the Evekwu axis of East-West Road on December 11, 2018.
Recall that the video of a young man, who was shot in the leg, trended online for several days.

It was gathered that the policemen, who were on a stop-and-search assignment, demanded N100 from each commercial bus driver.
However, when it got to the turn of a bus marked G.U. Agofure, the driver insisted that he had no money to give to the cops, a development that made the policemen stop the vehicle.
One of the passengers came down to tell the policemen to allow the bus, which was conveying passengers from Warri to Port Harcourt, to continue its journey.
Angered by the passenger’s action, one of the cops shot him in the leg. The victim was thereafter taken to a hospital after much appeal to the policemen.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the arrest of the cop that allegedly shot the passenger in the leg.
Omoni, who disclosed that the passenger had been discharged from the hospital after treatment, said the policeman had been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.
He pointed out that Section 237 of Police Code concerning how an officer/policeman should use a firearm would be evoked on the suspect.
“Two Agofure buses, which loaded in Warri (Delta State), were travelling to Port Harcourt when policemen, who were on stop-and-search, stopped the first bus.
“The driver of the second bus and one of the passengers came done to approach the officer.
“While they were getting close to the officers to find out why the first bus was stopped, one of the policemen shot the passenger in the leg,” Omoni said.
