Arsenal Europa League Banky W Villareal

Gutted by Arsenal’s Europa League semifinal elimination, Nigerian singer-songwriter, Bankole Wellington aka Banky W swore to shield his son from the constant heartaches that come with supporting the London club.

For the first time in 25 years, the Gunners are on the brink of missing out on European football next season as they sit ninth on the Premier League table, with nine points off the Europe qualifying spot.

According to UEFA’s criteria for Premier League teams, “the top four teams in the league qualify for the group stage proper,” while the fifth-placed team and winners of the FA Cup would qualify for the group stage proper.

With Arsenal failing to meet these criteria as it stands, the last opportunity would have been to win the Europa League, the chance which they gifted to former coach, Villareal who would face Manchester United in the final on May 26.

Heartbroken by the clubs devastating elimination, Banky W took to his verified Twitter page, filled with regret, to tell his 3.5M followers that his grandfather should be blamed for making him an Arsenal fan.

Speaking further, the ‘Final Say’ singer noted that he would not allow his baby to inherit the “Arsenal fan-ship” from him, adding that the little boy doesn’t deserve the heartaches dished out occasionally by the club.

He wrote, “I told Grandpa W that I blame him for making us Arsenal fans. I really shouldn’t let Zaiah inherit this Arsenal fan-ship. He has done nothing to deserve this. Lol, I shouldn’t let #MamaZ see this.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal have four more games against West Brom, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Brighton to wrap up their 2020/21 Premier League season.

As they head towards a potential mission impossible, 12 points could take them into Europe next season but it would require a miracle to see them edge the likes of Everton, Liverpool, Tottenham, and West Ham.
