Armed bandits have attacked Nasarawa Mainika ward in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting Alhaji Dan-Baba Nasarawa, the father of a former ward councillor.

The incident reportedly took place on Monday night when the assailants stormed a private residence in the community.

Dan-Baba Nasarawa is the father of Anas Abdu, who previously served as councillor representing the ward.

In a related incident in the nearby Kwantara community, the gunmen were said to have shot one resident and kidnapped another, amid a rise in such attacks across the area.

Residents have expressed concern that incidents of abduction and shootings are becoming increasingly common in the locality.

They have appealed to security agencies and the Kano State Government to urgently intensify efforts to safeguard lives and restore security in Gwarzo.
