Four students have been kidnapped by suspected bandits at the Paris Quarters behind the Federal University, Dutsinma, in Katsina State.

The attack happened early Sunday morning at about 2:20 a.m. according to Channels news when the bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons including AK-47 rifles, stormed the area in disguise and took away the students.

A resident who confirmed the incident, stated the armed men operated for some time before escaping with their victims.

“They came around 2:20 a.m. and started shooting in the air. They entered some houses and kidnapped four students,” the resident said.

Although the police and government officials have not officially responded, it was gathered that security operatives rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call. However, the bandits had already fled before their arrival.

Efforts are reportedly ongoing to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims safely.

Dutsinma is one of the areas in Katsina State struggling with banditry and cattle rustling, despite ongoing security efforts and government intervention to restore peace.

As of the time of this report, the police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, has yet to comment on the incident.
