Bandits have once again attacked a community in Zamfara, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least six people. The incident took place in Dansadau town, located in the Maru local government area of Zamfara state.
According to a resident who spoke to a news outlet but requested not to be named, the armed bandits arrived in the town on motorcycles in a large group around 2 pm on a Tuesday afternoon.
The bandits opened fire indiscriminately, particularly targeting people around Dansadau motor park and the main market. As a result of the attack, four individuals suffered severe gunshot wounds.
The resident described how the townspeople tried to flee when they spotted the approaching bandits, but regrettably, six people lost their lives during the attack stating, “When we sighted their coming, people began running helter-scalter for their safety but unfortunately, six of our people were killed by the bandits as four people sustained serious gunshots now receiving medical attention at our general hospital,”
The four injured individuals were rushed to the local general hospital for medical treatment.
Notably, Dansadau has been plagued by insecurity and banditry for over two years, making the area increasingly inaccessible for residents.
The Zamfara state police command has not made any response to this incident at this time of this report.
