Suspected bandits have killed a retired secondary school teacher and kidnapped three women during an attack on the staff quarters of Government Secondary School, Tsafe, in Zamfara State.

The teacher, identified as Mallam Kabiru, was shot dead on Saturday night when he tried to stop the attackers from kidnapping him.

According to the Zamfara State Police Command, Kabiru’s wife and two other women who live in the staff quarters were taken away by the bandits after he was killed.

The spokesperson for the police, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident during a phone call with Channels Television on Sunday.

“They wanted to abduct him, but he resisted. That was when he was shot. His wife and two others were later taken away,” DSP Abubakar said.

He added that police officers and other security operatives have been sent to the area to go after the attackers.

“Troops have been mobilised and are on the trail of the kidnappers. I assure you that the victims will be rescued unharmed,” he said.

This attack is one of many cases of violence in Zamfara State, where bandits have continued to target schools, villages, and highways.

Residents in the area have called on the government to improve security and stop the repeated attacks on innocent people.
