Four days after he was abducted, a former member of the Jigawa House of Assembly who represented Auyo constituency, Haladu Bako Uza, has breathed the air of freedom after a ransom payment of N1.5 million was made.

The development was confirmed by an aide to the ex-Governor of the state Sule Lamido on social media, Mansur Ahmed on Sunday.

Uza said the victim was released on Saturday at about 3:00 pm after his family was made to part with N1.5m ransom to secure his freedom from his abductors.

DAILY POST reported that gunmen abducted the former lawmaker on his way to Auyo town, along Kano-Hadejia road on Wednesday night.

Police spokesman of the Jigawa State command, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, also confirmed the release of the victim but declined to comment if a ransom was paid before his release.

Adam, however, said that the police had intensified a manhunt to arrest the criminals.
