Bandits allegedly kill, injure, abduct worshippers in fresh attack on Kaduna churches

An unknown number of villagers have been reportedly killed or injured as armed bandits stormed a church in the Gwagwada community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Sahara Reporters reported that a number of villagers were also abducted during the attack on a Baptist church at Lukuru village and another white garment-wearing church at Gwagwada road.

At least two persons were reportedly killed on the spot as the armed bandits shot sporadically during the attack in the early hours of Wednesday, the medium said quoting an unnamed eyewitness who added that many others sustained various degrees of injury and many were also kidnapped.

He added a similar attack occurred at Mahu village in Gwagwada, noting that one of the churches was razed down by the heavily armed bandits.

Confirming the incident, a former Secretary of the Gbagyi Youths Association, Abashe Dauda, said, “The bandits have attacked Mahu village, a community before Bakin Kasuwa along Gwagwada Road in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State; it happened a while ago.

“Workers of Tanadi Water Company, Dutse were also kidnapped and they are mostly residents of Dutse community. A church was burnt while food items were looted. Properties were also destroyed during the attacks.”
