In a brazen attack early Sunday morning, suspected bandits stormed Kakin Dawa, a village in Gidan Goga district of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State, abducting over 50 women and girls.
The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, reportedly launched their assault at about 1:30 a.m., moving systematically from house to house in what appeared to be a coordinated operation.
A villager, speaking with Daily Post, described the terrifying incident said, “Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village; later we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted.”
He urged both the federal government and the Zamfara State government to deploy additional security personnel to the area, stressing the urgent need to address the growing threat posed by bandits.
Zamfara State has been a known for banditry, with frequent incidents of raids, kidnappings, and community displacements.
The abductions come just days after two explosive devices detonated in separate locations within the Dansadau District of Maru Local Government Area. The blasts, which occurred on the Dansadau-Malamawa road and Malele road, marked the third such incident in the area within a week.
Communities across Zamfara State continue to plead for stronger government intervention to combat banditry and protect residents. The repeated attacks have left many villages vulnerable and struggling to recover.
As the federal and state governments face mounting pressure to act decisively, the situation in Zamfara remains dire, with families mourning their losses and fearing further violence.
