Bandits abduct 40 Muslim worshippers during vigil in Katsina mosque
No fewer than 40 Muslim worshippers have been abducted in the early hours of Monday while observing vigil (Tahajjud) at a mosque located in the outskirt of Jibiya town in Katsina State.
Mallam Fahad Mukhtar, a resident of the community who witnessed the event told Channels TV that residents have earlier been warned of the attack before the bandits stormed the mosques guns blazing around 2:am on Monday.
Mukhtar added that the suspects whisked away with the worshippers who were said to number around 40 into the forest.
“Prior to their coming, people were informed on so many WhatsApp platforms that there might be an attack around 12:am.
“Our prayer is that May Almighty Allah intervenes and look into our condition in Jibia. This attack happens almost on daily basis. It’s not something new.
“Our leaders and sponsors of the insecurity in our country should recall that there will be a day of judgment,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement concerning the development at the time of this report.
