Bandits abduct 100 students in Gov Matawalle’s hometown

Suspected bandits on Wednesday stormed Government Day Secondary School in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State where they kidnapped over 100 students, the PUNCH reports.

The incumbent State Governor, Bello Matawalle, hails from Maradun.

One of the locals, Malam Abu Kaya, disclosed that the bandits arrived the school about 11:00a.m on Wednesday when the school was in session.

Kaya stressed that hough the number of kidnapped students was yet to be ascertained, he can conveniently teel that the number of victims would be more than 100.

“We are yet to identify the actual number of students abducted, but we believe that they would reach 100,” he said.

Kaya also reiterated that the school has a population of over 300 students, adding that a significant number of the students were taken by the bandits.

Due to the panic that followed the attack, the whole town had been deserted as residents feared that the bandits might staged a return to the area.

All efforts made to reach the State Police command spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, proved abortive as he neither picked calls or respond to SMS.
