Bagudu approves N6bn for payment of retired workers’ gratuity in Kebbi

Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has approved the release of six billion Naira for the payment of State, Local government and LGEA workers gratuity.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Bagudu on Media, Yahya Sarki, and made available to newsmen on Saturday.

In the statement, retired workers who disengaged from service in 2017 and 2018 and had received part payment of their gratuity will be paid their remaining balance.

While other retirees from 2019, 2020 and 2021 will also receive payment of their gratuity.

“Similarly, other retirees from 2019, 2020 and 2021 will also receive payment of their gratuity

“This happy development was part of the outcome of an earlier meeting held last Friday between the Chairman, Audit Committee for State and Local Government Pensioners, Acting Head of the Civil Service and the state NLC Chairman.

“It was unanimously agreed that labour Unions and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners should be involved in all stages in the preparation and payment of gratuity to the deserving retirees.”

The gesture, according to the statement, was to ensure probity and accountability in the process of payment.

The Acting Head of Service, Safiyanu Bena has last Friday stated that the invaluable gesture of the Governor wa in line with his administration’s policy and aspiration towards improving the general welfare of the retired workers in the state.

Bena further added that arangements for the payment would commence as from next week Monday, January 17, 2022.
