Puerto Rican music star, Bad Bunny, has been confirmed as the headline performer for the Super Bowl LX halftime show scheduled to hold in Santa Clara, California, next year.
The announcement was made on Sunday during halftime of the NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.
Bad Bunny, regarded as one of the world’s biggest artistes, is expected to bring his global fanbase and Latin influence to one of the most-watched sporting events. He is currently on tour, which organisers say will keep him well-prepared for the performance.
Reports say several top musicians, including Taylor Swift and Adele, had earlier turned down offers to perform at the show. Swift reportedly pulled out after demanding compensation and ownership rights to her performance, which the NFL declined, while Adele cited safety concerns and her long-standing refusal to take part in the event.
Last year, rapper Kendrick Lamar headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans. Other past performers include Usher, Rihanna, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Beyoncé, Madonna, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and the late Michael Jackson.
