Social media is currently buzzing following the arrest of popular Nollywood comic actor, Olarenwaju James also known as Baba Ijesha, for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl went viral.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the actor actually started having canal knowledge of the victim when she was barely seven years old.
Perhaps what shocked many Nigerians was the fact the actor confessed to committing the crime and was also captured by a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant.
Many social media users have since started addressing the famous Baba Ijesha in the light of a paedophile.
On Twitter, a very pissed user, @ATOMTGOLD prayed that the actor gets maximum jail sentence without mercy.
He wrote,
“Baba Ijesha has been raping the little girl since she was 7 years old. Hope he get maximum sentence and die inside jail.”
On Instagram, another user, litelivemedia.com_blog reacting to the incident, however, insisted on seeing an evidence before she curses the life out of him.
“Make una show us the video, so that we can lay curse on him… Thou he is cursed already”
A Twitter user, @deClint_ said when he would have had consentual s3x with adults, he picked a child instead.
“That’s a whole ass rapist and ped0philia Pretty sure he could’ve had s€x with adult women – with their consent He better go to jail”
@donlucatoni, on the other hand, declared the famous thespian should be castrated.
“14 yrs in jail should do after he has bin castrated”
Another Twitter user, @OSodamo noted that he still finds it hard to believe that a man well respected in society could be caught in such a despicable act.
He wrote,
“Funke! Ayemi temi bami! What’s this world turning to how can a whole baba ijesha do this…. someone we see as a role model… I hope this isn’t real.”
An Instagram user, sophiaigbanor_456 said that it really is a huge shame.
He wrote,
“If this is confirmed to be true then it is a very big shame.”
