Popular On-Air Personality, Tolu ‘Toolz’ Oniru-Demuren has fumed over Yomi Fabiyi’s planned protest against the detention of his disgraced colleague, Olanrewaju James (alias Baba Ijesha), who was accused of rape and child molestation.

WUZUPNIGERIA reported that the Fabiyi had planned to stage a protest on Wednesday, May 12, at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti.

The actor argued that perennially keeping Baba Ijesha in custody without a court trial is a clear violation of his rights.

“Protest peacefully on Wednesday at Panti against any form of human rights abuse or oppression. Don’t be a coward,” he told his fans on social media.

In response to the Nollywood actor’s statement, Toolz who plies her trade with Beat 99.9 FM appeared bemused by the actor’s decision to stage a protest against the detention of his colleague who is accused of paedophile crimes.

In a post on her Twitter handle on Tuesday, Toolz accused Fabiyi of clout chasing and questioned if he is defending Ijesha because they have a lot in common.

She wrote: “So this Yomi Fabiyi fellow wants ppl to protest in support of a paedophile? Just when I thought I had seen it all in Nigeria! I imagine he’s doing this for attention, but this is the lowest level EVER for clout chasing…or maybe he’s defending someone he has a lot in common with.”

Recall that Baba Ijesha was accused of raping an unnamed minor who was placed in the custody of a popular comedienne, Princess, at age seven.

Seven years later, he was caught on camera molesting the same girl thereby compounding his alleged crimes.

In what Fabiyi described as bait, the video has since gone viral with Nigerians and celebrities divided on the issue.

To worsen the matter, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has also disclosed that the suspect may be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty of child molestation charges.

In a statement signed by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), on Tuesday, a prima-facie case has already been established against the actor.

WUZUPNIGERIA reported that Ijesha’s case file of ‘COP v Olanrewaju James’ was forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice on the 30th of April, 2021which led to the recommendation that he should be charged under the following provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015:
