Police grant bail to Baba Ijesha

Lagos-based property company, Matrix Homes and Properties Limited, has reportedly disowned Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James aka Baba Ijesha, as brand ambassador after he was placed in police custody for allegedly raping a minor.

Matrix Homes, on Friday, released a statement via its Instagram story that it has separated itself from Baba Ijesha.

“Matrix Homes and Properties Ltd wishes to bring to the attention of our customers and members of the public that Omiyinka Olanrewaju James AKA Baba Ijesha has ceased to be a brand ambassador of our company,” it said.

“…following his recent misconduct which is antithetical to our company’s values. Matrix Homes and Properties, therefore, disassociates itself in entirety from Baba Ijesha.”

Recall that the 48-year-old actor was arrested on April 22, 2021, for allegedly defiling Adekola Adekanya aka Princess’ foster child.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Lagos State police command, said preliminary findings revealed that the suspect started assaulting the victim sexually since she was seven years old.

A video also emerged on social media on Thursday, showing Baba Ijesha admitted to raping the victim, who is now 14 years old.

Meanwhile, social media went agog following a report that a directive had been given for Baba Ijesha’s release from custody, as he could not be detained indefinitely due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in the state.
