Nigerian music stars Ayra Starr and Wizkid have teamed up once again for their latest collaboration titled ‘Gimme Dat’.

The track, released in the early hours of Friday, has generated buzz among fans anticipating a follow-up to their previous joint effort.

Produced by VybeO and Mikabeatz, ‘Gimme Dat’ incorporates a sample from Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 classic ‘911’, blending nostalgic R&B elements with a contemporary Afrobeats vibe.

This marks the second time the duo have collaborated. Their first joint track, ‘2 Sugar’, featured on Wizkid’s 2022 album ‘More Love, Less Ego’, earned a nomination for ‘Best Afrobeats’ at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

‘Gimme Dat’ is Ayra Starr’s second release of 2025, following her February single ‘All The Love’. Born Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, the singer shot to fame with her 2021 breakout hit ‘Bloody Samaritan’. Signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, Starr has since become a household name, earning widespread recognition for her music.

At the 2025 MOBO Awards, she made history by winning ‘Best International Act’ — becoming the first African female artist to do so — and also clinched ‘Best African Music Act’, making her the first woman in 16 years to receive that honor.

Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, first rose to fame with his 2011 debut album ‘Superstar’. Over the years, he has released several successful projects, including ‘Ayo’ (2014), ‘Sound from the Other Side’ (2017), and ‘More Love, Less Ego’ (2022). His latest album, ‘Morayo’, was released on November 22, 2024, as a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.
