Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr and Nollywood legend Richard Mofe-Damijo have joined the cast of the upcoming movie adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s popular novel, “Children of Blood and Bone.”

The latest casting announcement, made on Saturday, added more Nigerian talent to the highly anticipated Hollywood production.

Other newly confirmed cast members include Pamilerin Ayodeji, Shamz Garuba, British-Nigerian basketball player Temi Fagbenle, Zackary Momoh, Kola Bodunde, and Saniyya Sidney.

They will join the lead cast already announced, with South African actress Thuso Mbedu playing the main character, Zélie. Tosin Cole will portray her brother Tzain, while Amandla Stenberg and Damson Idris take on the roles of Princess Amari and Prince Inan.

Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to play King Saran, with Academy Award winner Regina King cast as Queen Nehanda. The movie will also feature Hollywood stars like Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, and Lashana Lynch.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, “Children of Blood and Bone” is set in the fictional kingdom of Orïsha, where magic was once powerful until King Saran wiped it out. The story follows Zélie, who discovers a way to bring back magic and embarks on a dangerous journey with her brother Tzain and Princess Amari, who rebels against her father’s rule. Their main obstacle is Prince Inan, who is determined to stop them.

Filming is expected to start in South Africa, with the movie set to be released in early 2027.
