Nigeria’s Super Falcons have ensured their passage the final of the ongoing African Women Championship (AWCON) after defeating a tough playing South African team.
Desire Oparonozie’s 54th minute strike was all the high scoring Falcons needed to conquer their match in the tournament, thereby progressing to the final to meet host Cameroon.
The Florence Omagbemi-led team will now be looking to make it a 10th AWCON crown after winning nine of the previous 11 tournaments.
Nigerians have now taken to the social media to express their joy at the team’s qualification for the final hurdle in the highly-coveted championship.
Congratulations to the Super Falcons on qualifying to the finals.??? #AWCON2016
