Authorities of the Rivers State College of Health Science and Management Technology have shut the school and students have been asked to vacate the campus.

Prof. Frankly Nlerum, the institution’s Provost, confirmed the development to The PUNCH Saturday evening.

The students had embarked on a three-day protest in Port Harcourt over the lack of electricity supply, water supply, and the I don’t care attitude of the government over their plight.

All efforts by the school authorities to persuade the students to return to the classroom from the protest that began on Tuesday through Thursday were unfruitful.

It was gathered that the students were given till 4pm today (Saturday) to vacate the premises.

A statement from Prof. Nlerum  in a statement said, “The students have refused any appeal by the management of the college to get back to their classrooms.

“They made an initial request that they do not have water and light but management has restored light and water to the campus. We do not understand what they are still looking for.

“They have refused to listen to the request of management to come back to the classrooms and let things be done normally,

“So management felt that there is no need to make trouble with them and especially since they have also threatened that from next week they will be on the road and management does not want any student to he hurt.”
