Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, as a painful loss to Nigeria.

WUZUPNIGERIA reported that the CoAS passed on in a tragic plane crash alongside 10 others at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday evening.

Reacting to Attahiru’s death, Sanwo-Olu noted that the commitment of the late COAS was evident in his fight against insecurity and insurgency in the country.

“My heartfelt condolences to President Muhammadu Buhari over the tragic air mishap that claimed the lives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other officers.

“This is a very painful loss considering the commitment of these officers to combat insecurity in our country and win the war against insurgency,” the governor said in a tweet on Saturday.

Speaking further, Sanwo-Olu prayed for God to comfort the family as they mourn the CoAS.

He added, “On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I pray that the Nigerian Army, families and friends of Lt. Gen Attahiru and the other officers will find the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
