Atiku records victory in Anambra

The Presidential Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has recorded 524,728 votes in the Saturday Presidential election in Anambra.

The State Returning Officer, Prof. Francis Ogbonaya, announced the result on Tuesday at the National Collation Centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.

Ogbonaya also announced that the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari, scored 33,298 votes in the state.

He also announced that Gbor Terwase of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) scored 30,033 and Felix Nicholas of the Peoples Collation Party (PCP) scored 4,374 votes among others.

Ogbonaya said that the state has 2,389,332 total registered voters, 675,273 voters were accredited, 625,035 as total vote cast, 605,734 as total valid votes, and 19,301 as rejected votes.

He also disclosed that the state recorded 69,395 cancelled votes in seven local government areas in 114 polling units in the state.

Meanwhile, a representative of APGA raised an observation that the party state chairman briefed him that there was no voting in Onitsha North and hoodlums also attacked Opoko Local Government of the state.

Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who said he has yet to receive any petition since the collation started, promised to attend to all petitions.
