Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the news that 12 Assistant Superintendents of Police, ASPs, have been kidnapped by bandits.

The police officers were kidnapped while on their way to Zamfara from Borno state.

Reacting to the news, Atiku called for the deployment of all resources towards their freedom.

“I am concerned like many men and women of goodwill that a dozen police officers, who are charged with the protection of our lives and properties, are themselves victims of kidnapping. No resource should be spared to free them,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, BBC Hausa has reported that one of the abductees called his wife and told her to raise N1million.

“He called me on Wednesday and told me that he was in the hands of the kidnappers.

“I can’t tell you I have any other information. We are in a state of frustration,” she was quoted as saying.
