Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports suggesting he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race.
The rebuttal was issued through a statement by his media aide, Damola Olanrewaju, via a social media post.
Responding directly to a viral tweet that claimed Atiku had stepped down, Olanrewaju alleged that the report was orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress and loyalists of President Bola Tinubu, as part of their early 2027 campaign strategy.
Quoting the source of the misinformation, the former vice president’s aide stated that the news was part of “a dedicated effort towards bullying Atiku out of a legitimate presidential aspiration,” adding that it stemmed from the political calculations of President Tinubu’s camp.
He went on to clarify that Atiku remains undeterred by such tactics.
“Atiku is too big to be bullied,” he stated, affirming that the former vice president “will run in 2027.”
He further expressed confidence in Atiku’s chances, asserting that the former PDP presidential candidate will receive strong support from the electorate in the next general election.
