President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N208billion for the upgrade of Nigerian universities.
This was disclosed by the President’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Ahmad Bashir, via his Twitter handle.
“President @MBuhari has recently approved N208 billion to upgrade Nigerian universities’ infrastructure.
The federal government will continue to look at issues raised by universities, especially on infrastructure and will also continue to monitor its governance.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had recently called on Nigerians to pressurise the Federal Government to honour their agreement to forestall fresh strike.
The union’s President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi had made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
ASUU has been negotiating with the Federal Government on the need to improve the state of Nigeria’s educational system.
