Veteran footballer, Ashley Young, has revealed that he will retire at the end of the current season, closing the chapter on a professional journey that has spanned more than two decades across England and Italy.
Now 40 and playing for Ipswich Town, Young stated that his priority remains helping his side achieve promotion to the Premier League as the Championship campaign reaches its final day.
Over the course of his career, Young has made 765 club appearances and scored 88 goals.
Reflecting on his time in football, he described it as a “dream” and indicated he will take time in the coming months to consider his next steps.
His most successful period came at Manchester United, where he secured major honours including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League titles. He later added the Serie A crown during his stint with Inter Milan.
On the international stage, Young earned 39 caps representing the England national team.
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna commended the veteran’s impact, pointing to his professionalism and determination as vital elements in the club’s push for promotion.
