Popular afrobeats singer, Ahmed Ololade, melted hearts after gifting his father, Fatai Odunsi, fondly called Malo, a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado worth about N130 million on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Earlier in the week, the singer had presented his mother with a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon G63, valued at approximately N311 million.

Fans initially questioned why Asake had rewarded his mother with a luxury vehicle before doing the same for his father.

Despite the online debates, both the singer and his father remained silent, letting the gesture speak for itself. Over time, the tone on social media shifted from critique to congratulation.

An Instagram user, ladel195, commented, “I hope Asake critics can see now. God bless Asake,” while another user, damiee, wrote simply, “Equation balance.”

Previously, some fans had labelled the singer a “mama’s boy,” but the discussion about his father’s absence and silence lingered beneath the praise.

Days after the surprise gift to his father, Asake was seen celebrating with his mother and her friends in a video shared by dancer Poco Lee on Instagram. The clips, widely circulated online, racked up millions of views as fans applauded the act while continuing to speculate about family dynamics.

Asake’s family has been under public scrutiny before. In March 2025, his father, Malo, a stroke survivor, made headlines after pleading for help in a video in which he accused Asake of neglecting him despite the singer’s growing fame.

“I am suffering from a partial stroke and need assistance,” Odunsi said, alleging that his son had abandoned him after achieving success.

The controversy escalated when Asake’s alleged baby mama, Adijat, claimed he had also neglected her and their daughter, Zeenat, despite her support during his early career. The claims sparked public backlash, prompting fans and celebrities to urge reconciliation.

Within days, reports emerged that Asake had reached out to settle the disputes. Odunsi later confirmed in a follow-up video that his son would cover medical bills, provide for his daughter, and purchase a new house.

“Asake said he will do everything that I want. We have settled; no more problems,” Odunsi said, signalling the end of the earlier dispute.

However, his father’s silence following the recent car gift reignited online speculation about Asake’s focus on his mother, with some unverified reports suggesting she had largely raised him amid an absent paternal figure.

A viral post on X by Omo Akin captured the sentiment: “Asake bought his mum a house and today surprised her with a G-Wagon, but they were begging him last time to help his father. As a man, please spend on yourself and enjoy life to the fullest; women own children.”

Another social media thread reflected on fatherhood pressures. X user JeGBe wrote, “Men really need to make time to be present in their children’s lives. A lot of kids barely see their dad because he’s always out grinding to provide for the family, and it’s tough. Being a man comes with heavy pressure. I only truly understood that after losing my own father.”

Conversely, some users criticised Odunsi, labelling him a “deadbeat father.” Instagram user comedian_kod stated, “Once you are a deadbeat father, don’t expect anything. Tomorrow if I’m doing things for my mum and someone tries to bring my dad into it, I will definitely respond.” Another user, dannie_ex, added, “His dad was most definitely absent. Go and do your research.”
