Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in a highly anticipated Premier League match on Sunday.

Gabriel Martinelli’s 87th-minute deflected shot hit Nathan Ake in the face and went past a wrong-footed Ederson, giving Arsenal the lead and three crucial points.

The match was evenly contested, with both teams having chances to score. Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya was lucky to have the ball end up in the side netting after taking too long on the ball.

Mateo Kovacic was lucky to stay on the pitch after a studs-showing tackle from behind which solicited a yellow card, and then a late one minutes later which the referee decided didn’t warrant a second booking.

Gabriel Martinelli’s introduction gave Arsenal more life after the break, and ultimately proved the difference.

With this win, Arsenal leapfrogged Manchester City to take second place in the Premier League table with 20 points, while Manchester City are third with 18 points.
