Arsenal have completed the signing of England international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in a deal worth a reported £60 million, including £8 million in performance-related add-ons.
The 27-year-old forward becomes the Gunners’ seventh signing of a busy summer window.
The move sees Eze return to familiar ground, having started his youth career with Arsenal.
The deal also marks a significant coup for the club, with rivals Tottenham Hotspur previously reaching agreements with both Crystal Palace and the player before Arsenal made a late move to secure his signature on Wednesday.
Sporting director Andrea Berta praised the club’s latest addition, describing Eze as a “creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality.”
Manager Mikel Arteta expressed similar enthusiasm, stating, “He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game. What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence as a player, is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today.
“His journey, his mentality, and his ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club.”
Eze’s arrival follows earlier summer additions including striker Viktor Gyokeres and midfielder Martin Zubimendi, with the club looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign. The signing comes at a critical time, with Arsenal moving swiftly after Kai Havertz sustained an injury.
Despite the flurry of arrivals, the North London club is expected to shift its focus to player departures in the final stretch of the window. Defender Jakub Kiwior is reportedly attracting interest from AC Milan and Porto. Kiwior has found playing time limited following the arrival of Cristhian Mosquera and was left out of the squad for last weekend’s match against Manchester United.
Midfielder Fabio Vieira is also among those who could leave. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Porto, and negotiations are underway for a potential loan move to Stuttgart, which may include a £17 million obligation to buy based on performance clauses.
Albert Sambi Lokonga, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla, is not part of Arteta’s plans and is also exploring options for a permanent move.
Reiss Nelson, another academy product who was loaned to Fulham last season, has been linked with a permanent transfer despite injuries affecting his stint at Craven Cottage. Fulham are also reportedly interested in Arsenal full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukrainian international is seeking more consistent minutes, with players like Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jurrien Timber currently ahead of him in the squad.
While exits remain the priority, Arsenal have not ruled out further additions. Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has been strongly linked as a potential late-window signing.
