Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued seven women and nine children who were kidnapped from their homes by terrorists.

The victims were freed during a series of coordinated counter-terrorism operations conducted by the troops, in collaboration with the Vigilante and Hybrid Force.

During the operations, one terrorist was killed, and several arms and ammunition were recovered.

The Nigerian Army shared this news in a statement posted on X.com on Friday. The statement highlighted the successful operations in Gwoza Local Government Area.

“In Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, troops executed an ambush operation targeting terrorists’ staging areas around Pulka and Ashagashiya,” the statement read. “During the operations, troops made contact with the terrorists, neutralising one, while others fled in disarray, abandoning their belongings.”

The troops rescued seven women and nine children from the terrorists and recovered one submachine gun, three bicycles, four blankets, cooking utensils, and several other items.

Additionally, the army reported an ambush operation in the Komala area of Borno State, where one terrorist was killed and several weapons were seized. The recovered items included two AK-47 rifles with magazines containing 29 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 91 belted links of PKT ammunition, one SMG, one SMG magazine, nine rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and one motorbike.

The successful operations demonstrate the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army to combat terrorism and protect civilians in the region.
