Army opens application for direct short service commission

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission Course 29/2026.

The Army made this known in a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for commission as officers.

According to the statement, the Direct Short Service Commission is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications.

Successful applicants will be commissioned into specialised corps of the Nigerian Army, where their professional expertise will support national defence and security operations.

“The available corps include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps,” the statement said.

The Army explained that applications are free and must be completed online, adding that the recruitment portal will be open from January 7 to February 4, 2026.

“Applications are free of charge and must be completed online. The application portal will be open from January 7 to February 4, 2026.

“Interested candidates are advised to apply early and ensure that all required information is correctly submitted,” the Army stated.

It also provided contact details for further inquiries, noting that applicants can reach the Nigerian Army recruitment help lines on 08179269294 or 08109959294 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.

The Army added that additional details and application guidelines are available on its official recruitment website, recruitment.army.mil.ng.

The Nigerian Army encouraged qualified Nigerians with the required skills and professional background to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation.
