The troops of Operation Safe Haven from the Nigerian Army have apprehended the suspected killer of a newly wedded couple in Kwi Community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Lt.-Col. Ishaku Takwa, the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, disclosed this during a news conference in Jos.
Takwa stated that the arrest took place on November 18 in Tafawa community of Barkin Ladi, and it was a result of the resilience and commitment of the troops.
The suspect, identified as Lukman Aminu, had been on the wanted list for numerous criminal offenses.
The incident in question occurred on August 14 when suspected gunmen attacked BECO Comprehensive Secondary School in Kwi, killing a newly married couple, Rwang Danladi, 37, and his wife, Sandra, 28, both teachers at the school.
The suspect, Lukman Aminu, confessed to committing the crime upon his arrest.
“We commenced investigation and arrested one Lukman Aminu, who has been on our wanted list over numerous criminal offences. He was arrested at Tafawa village in Barkin Ladi and has since confessed to committing the crime,” Takwa explained.
The Army spokesperson also assured that the troops are actively pursuing the remaining gunmen involved in the attack, and they will be brought to justice soon.
