Army arrests, detains soldiers involved in civilian brutalisation

The Nigerian Army has announced that it has identified and arrested the soldiers involved in brutalising two civilian in Badagry, Lagos.

This was announced on its X.com official page on Wednesday.

Recall that a viral video of some personnel of the Nigerian Customs Service and the Nigerian Army were captured on video beating and dehumanising two civilians trended on Monday.

It was gathered that the incident occurred after the victims attempted to record footage in a known smuggling zone.

Reacting to the viral video, the Nigerian Army wrote, “After preliminary investigation, the Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general public that it has identified and arrested the soldiers involved in the unprofessional handling of two civilians in an unfortunate incident that occurred in Badagry-Lagos State as viewed in a viral video.”

The statement further noted that investigations is currently ongoing.

“A comprehensive military police investigation of the suspects is ongoing. Be assured that justice will be served accordingly.”
