Army arrests cattle rustlers, recovers weapons in Plateau

The Nigerian Army announced on Thursday that troops involved in Operation ENDURING PEACE have apprehended suspected cattle rustlers and seized weapons and ammunition from them.

Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, stated the operation aims to curb the ongoing cattle rustling crises in Plateau State.

Following a raid on a suspected rustlers’ hideout in Kogul Village, Mangu Local Government Area, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, a fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a mobile phone.

The operation also led to the confiscation of an undisclosed sum of cash and the arrest of the suspects involved.

Major Zhakom added that follow-up operations are underway to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate.
