#ArmedForcesRemembranceDay: Nigerians pay homage to fallen heroes
Nigeria marks the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day on Friday in honour of her fallen heroes (men and women of uniform who have lost their lives while serving the nation).
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and a host of other top government officials and members of the diplomatic corps paid respect to the heroes with the traditional laying of wreath event at the National Arcade, opposite Eagles Square, Three Arms Zone, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The yearly event was also attended by the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammadu, and the nation’s security chiefs.
While the physical event supposedly took place across the country many other Nigerians have taken to Twitter to ensure that the labour of our heroes past is not in vain.
Thank you for the sacrifices you continually make in defense of our beloved country. We love you and pray that God protects you. #ArmedForcesRemembranceDay @HQNigerianArmy @DefenceInfoNG pic.twitter.com/5vdRBYRdjb

“… them governments that send the boys to war
Claim it’s a fracture
When it’s just a little sore
He picks up his bag, says to his wife
“ I’ll be back my dear “
But even he knows it’s another life.
He’s gone for good ”#ArmedForcesRemembranceDay✊? pic.twitter.com/MmSF6JoZEC— T.E.S.L.I.M (@VectorThaViper) January 15, 2021
