Armed bandits kill council staff, kidnap wife, five others in Nasarawa

Tension in Nasarawa state as no fewer than five persons have been kidnapped by armed bandits in the Toto Local Government area of the state on Saturday night.

Those kidnapped were Basaru Rukaiya, Aishat Zakari, Chinedu Ide, Reuben Ibrahim and Vivian Ibrahim all of Yelwa village of Toto local government.

Investigation revealed that the armed bandits also killed late Mohammad Shuaibu and kidnapped his wife, demanding a N20 million ransom, which they later reduced to N2 million.

But a resident of the council area, Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed, informed newsmen that,

“The deceased was gruesomely killed by the gun-wielding bandits some couple of days ago and his wife, Mallama Zainab Salihu, was kidnapped as a ransom of N20 million was placed on her earlier by her abductors, but it was later reduced to N2 million.”

A source, who did not want his name to be mentioned, also said that the armed bandits on Saturday night kidnapped Basaru Rukaiya, Aishat Zakari, Chinedu Ide, Reuben Ibrahim and Vivian Ibrahim all of Yelwa village of Toto local government.

According to the source, on Sunday afternoon, the kidnappers at gunpoint also kidnapped Alhaji Mohammad Shuaibu at Unguwan Bai all in the same Toto local government.

Toto local government shares border with Abuja and Kogi state.
