Viewers and fans of Big Brother Naija were divided over how one of the housemates put up for eviction, Yousef, survived the hangman noose on Sunday.
His narrow escape came somewhat as a shock to many who wondered how Yousef with his boring personality was saved while the likes of Niyi and Beatrice were evicted from the house.
In the end, they could only reach one conclusion – power play from the north, which happens to be his base.
Some further swore that only votes received from Arewa youths could pull such a stunt as Yousef, originally known as Yusuf Garba, hails from Plateau State and is also a high school teacher before making it into the House.
Recall that the National President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Yerima Shettima, had earlier described the BBNaija show as a calamity that tends to make youths lazy and weak.
With such conviction, Shettima called on relevant authorities to ban the reality show stating that it promotes sexual immorality.
The reactions on social media Twitter and Instagram were lit.
The first salvo came from @Gbemigal who spat, “Arewa people you guys are actually really crazy, Yousef is still there, thought you guys didn’t like the show.”
His comment was followed by @Msmenalicious, “Kano, Katsina and Kaduna voted for Yousef. Na so dem dey behave for general elections.”
@Ozioma wrote, “Apparently Yousef has the North supporting him plus his students literally the whole school.”
@Xavier “Arewa don carry BBNaija for head like elections. Meaning Yousef can actually win the prize. Fear them.”
