A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Ayekooto Akindele, on Friday asserted that President Bola Tinubu has become a source of internal strife for the family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Akindele’s comment followed a social media post by El-Rufai’s son, Bashir, who openly expressed his desire to see Tinubu defeated in the 2027 presidential election. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Bashir wrote: “Can’t wait for this man to relocate back to Bourdillion. The North is ready,” alongside an image of President Tinubu.
Responding to Bashir’s statement, Akindele remarked that the situation has escalated within the El-Rufai household.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has become the Family Problem of the El-Rufais. They are groaning and gnashing their teeth,” he wrote.
Nasir El-Rufai, a former APC governor, is currently reported to be aligned with an opposition coalition working toward unseating President Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 election.
Recall that the former Governor of Kaduna State had asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is an impossibility.
Speaking in an interview shared on his verified X handle on Thursday, the Social Democratic Party chieftain emphasised that anyone holding a different view is out of touch with the reality in Nigeria.
El-Rufai contended that the Nigerian populace has lost confidence in both the All Progressives Congress and the current president, suggesting that they would therefore be unwilling to cast their votes for them in the upcoming general election.
El-Rufai said, “Anybody that thinks it is possible for President Bola Tinubu to get re-elected is living in another country, not Nigeria. It is impossible for Bola Tinubu to get re-elected.”
He continued, “I don’t see a pathway for him,” he said.
” It is greedy and hungry politicians and those that are looking for money, contract, appointment, office that are defecting,” he added.
