The All Progressives Congress has realised more than N20 billion from the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms to aspirants seeking the party’s ticket for various positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ruling party fixed the cost of its nomination forms at N100 million for presidential aspirants, N50 million for governorship candidates, N20 million for Senate contestants, N10 million for House of Representatives hopefuls and N5 million for State Houses of Assembly aspirants.
However, the APC granted concessions to female aspirants, youths and physically challenged contenders, who were only required to purchase the expression of interest form and pay 50 per cent of the stipulated nomination fee.
Sales of the forms commenced on April 25 and ended on May 6, 2026, after the party extended the deadline twice. The extensions reportedly led to a significant increase in the number of aspirants purchasing forms at both the national and state levels.
By the close of sales, two presidential aspirants — President Bola Tinubu and Osifo Stanley — had obtained the forms. In addition, about 90 governorship aspirants across 28 states also purchased forms, alongside numerous contenders for the 469 National Assembly seats, made up of 109 Senate and 360 House of Representatives positions, as well as 990 aspirants for State Houses of Assembly seats.
Following the deadline for the submission of completed forms on Thursday, May 7, the APC began the screening of aspirants on Friday, May 8, 2026.
