The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has lost his mother, Lydia Yilwatda.
She passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
The news of her death was confirmed in a statement released over the weekend by the Plateau State APC Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, who described the loss as a significant one for both the state and the country.
“APC in Plateau State received with shock the sad news of the death of the mother of its National Chairman, Mama Lydia Yilwatda,” he stated.
Her passing comes just weeks after Professor Yilwatda assumed the role of APC National Chairman in July 2025, following the resignation of his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
