The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of suppressing dissent and misusing state power to intimidate opposition figures.
Aregbesola made the remarks on Saturday during the official unveiling of the ADC secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State.
He claimed the APC had plunged Nigeria into hardship through what he described as greed, incompetence, and poor governance.
“Under the current administration, hunger has taken over the land. Governance has been reduced to personal enrichment and political intimidation. Nigerians are suffering because of the failure of leadership at all levels under the APC,” Aregbesola stated.
He also alleged that the APC had adopted authoritarian tactics to weaken the political space, warning that such actions undermine democratic principles.
“If the APC is confident of its strength, it would not be hounding and haunting opposition members everywhere,” he added.
The former Minister of Interior described the ADC as a “party of conscience and service,” and urged Nigerians to embrace it as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The hatred of Nigerians for the ruling party is obvious, and the party that will harvest that unpopularity is the ADC,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, former Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the opening of the ADC secretariat signalled the beginning of a new phase in the state’s political journey.
