The All Progressives Congress is set to select its candidate today, for the February 3, 2023, bye-election in Ebonyi South Senatorial District.

The vacancy arose after Senator Dave Umahi resigned from the Senate following his appointment as the Minister of Works by Bola Tinubu

The APC National Secretariat Committee has completed the screening of Professor Anthony Okorie Ani, who is vying for the party’s flag in the primary election.

Among the two aspirants who purchased forms for the primary, only Prof. Ani completed and returned the necessary paperwork, and subsequently underwent the screening on Thursday.

Smart Iheazor, Chairman of the screening/special congress committee, provided details to reporters in Abakaliki on Friday.

He confirmed that out of the two aspirants, only Prof. Ani participated in the screening, while Princess Ann Agom-Eze failed to return her form or attend the screening session.

“I am the Chairman of the screening/special congress committee of Ebonyi State bye-election for the Ebonyi South senatorial seat,” Iheazor stated. “Two persons purchased forms, and out of the two, only one person returned the completed forms. The second person did not return her forms and also did not show up for the screening despite radio and other media announcements to that effect.”

In light of these developments, Professor Anthony Okorie Ani has been duly cleared to contest the Ebonyi South Senatorial District seat.
