Former Governor of Jigawa State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sule Lamido, has accused the All Progressives Congress of exacerbating Nigeria’s economic woes and subjecting citizens to worsening hardship.

Speaking during an expanded PDP caucus meeting in Dutse, Lamido said the years of APC leadership—under both former President Muhammadu Buhari and the current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—have only brought suffering and disappointment to Nigerians.

“Since Buhari and now Tinubu, Nigerians are suffering. Poverty is everywhere, youths are jobless, and the economy is collapsing. They say they are fighting for Nigeria, but in reality, they only fight for themselves and their pockets,” Lamido told party members.

He argued that the APC government has failed to deliver on its promises, instead deepening the country’s economic crisis. According to him, rather than uplifting citizens, the ruling party has left many grappling with poverty, unemployment, and economic instability.

Reflecting on his long-standing political journey, Lamido traced his activism back to the struggles of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in 1979. He stressed that true political leadership must be rooted in integrity, sacrifice, and service to the people.

He urged PDP members to uphold values of justice and fairness, warning against the dangers of selfish ambition and divisive rhetoric within the party.

Lamido further called on the PDP to maintain its focus on presenting itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians who are disillusioned by what he described as the APC’s failed governance.Un
