Political thugs allegedly loyal to Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Friday, attacked Rivers State High Court Complex and destroyed vehicles and properties.
This was made known in a video that was uploaded online a few minutes ago by one Marshal Obuzor.
In the video, a yet to be identified staff who paraded police officers around the premises alleged that the thugs were loyalists of the former governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
He alleged that the thugs were backed by over 40 operatives of Special Anti-robbery Squad who locked the Gate of the court as the youths vandalized vehicles and offices in order to intimidate judicial officers.
It was gathered that workers and judges who struggled to enter the premises were allegedly beaten to stupor, while the SARs officers shot repeatedly into the air.
A source who didn’t want to be named said the thugs were led by one Jacob Briggs from Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.
The source said the assailants blocked the court premises in a bid to stop proceedings in the suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe.
It was further gathered that Briggs alleged that Senator Abe is planning to use the High Court to stop the state’s APC Local Government Congresses.
Meanwhile, some youths numbering over 100 stormed the court and defied the SARs officers who were reportedly shooting before they opened the court.
