APC chieftain Cairo Ojougboh dies during Nigeria, S’Africa AFCON clash

Former member of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Congress chieftain, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, has reportedly passed away.

The outspoken politician reportedly died on Wednesday night while watching the AFCON 2023 semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.

The unfortunate incident occurred when Nigeria was awarded a penalty kick during the semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory Coast.

“As soon as a penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria during the AFCON match with South Africa on Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory Coast, he slumped,” a source revealed to Leadership News online.

Ojougboh, born on September 8, 1958, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, was not only a Nigerian Medical Doctor but also a prominent politician and businessman.

He was a high Chief of Ndi Anioma and Agbor Kingdom. Notably, he served as the former director of projects in the immediate past interim board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

At this time of reporting, the family of Ojougboh has yet to release any official statement confirming this death.
