The All Progressives Congress recorded sweeping victories in Kaduna State by-elections on Saturday, securing one federal constituency seat and two seats in the State House of Assembly.

In the Chikun–Kajuru Federal Constituency, the party’s candidate, Felix Bagudu, won with 34,580 votes, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party far behind with 11,491 votes. The Returning Officer, Prof. Abubakar Mohammed Jumare, declared Bagudu winner at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Kujama on Sunday.

“That Joseph, Felix Bagudu of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and return elected,” Jumare announced.

He praised security operatives, party agents, and voters for their conduct, saying, “The process was transparent, and the results reflect the will of the people.”

Jubilant APC supporters took to the streets of Kujama and parts of Kaduna metropolis to celebrate the victory, describing it as well deserved.

The APC also dominated the Kaduna State House of Assembly by-elections in Zaria zone. In Zaria Kewaye constituency, Isa Haruna Ihamo won with 26,613 votes. His closest challenger, Nuhu Sada Abdullahi of the Social Democratic Party, polled 5,721, while PDP’s Mamuda Abdullahi Wappa finished with 5,331.

In Basawa constituency, the Returning Officer, Prof. Nasiru Rabiu, declared the APC candidate winner with 10,926 votes against PDP’s 5,499.

Kaduna APC Secretary, Yahaya Baba-Pate, hailed the clean sweep, saying it was a product of hard work and people’s trust in the party.

“Our candidate in Chikun–Kajuru worked tirelessly, going door-to-door to engage the electorate. The people rewarded him with overwhelming votes. The same thing happened in Zaria Kewaye and Basawa,” he told journalists.

“This victory is for democracy, and it shows the people trust the APC to deliver,” he added.

Baba-Pate also dismissed opposition complaints about irregularities, insisting, “The figures speak for themselves. You can’t rig where you are not popular. The APC is deeply rooted in Kaduna, and these results confirm it.”
