Antonio Conte resigns as Inter Milan coach
Antonio Conte has stepped down as the head coach of Italian Serie A champions, Inter Milan, less than a month after winning the Scudetto with the Milan club this season.
The former Chelsea manager is leaving the club with one year left on his contract after leading the club to their first Serie A title in 11 years.
UK Guardian reports that the 51-year-old would be receiving a payout of €7m (£6m) after parting ways with the club based on a mutual agreement.
The report noted that Conte’s departure was sealed because of the club’s plan to sell about €80m of players this summer due to financial reasons.
A statement from the Nerazzurri read: “An agreement has been reached with Antonio Conte for the termination of his contract by mutual consent. The club would like to thank Antonio for the extraordinary work that he has done, culminating in Inter’s 19th top-flight title. Antonio Conte will forever remain a part of our club’s history.”
